General Contractor
Pharmacies & Medical Offices
Construction, refurbishment, extension
and relocation of pharmacies
At ECOOR, we support pharmacists with the construction, refurbishment, relocation and fit-out of their pharmacies. Our role is to design and deliver healthcare spaces that are functional, welcoming, fully compliant with regulations, built to last and designed to maximise long-term profitability.
A pharmacy project, whether it involves a complete refurbishment, an extension or a new build, comes with technical, regulatory and healthcare-specific requirements that demand specialist expertise. Spaces must comply with strict standards, project timelines are often tight, and every decision has a direct impact on your day-to-day operations. ECOOR’s expertise in this field ensures a smooth project delivery and a result that meets the highest expectations.

The Pharmacy fit-out projects we deliver
Pharmacy Fit-Out
Sales and dispensing area layout, pharmacy fixtures and fittings, regulatory compliance and full-service construction: we deliver modern, functional pharmacies designed around your workflow and customer flow.

Pharmacy Refurbishment
Whether your pharmacy needs a simple refresh of its retail area or a complete reconfiguration of its storage and dispensing spaces, we organise the work in carefully planned phases to keep your business running throughout the project:
- work carried out outside opening hours,
- uninterrupted access for patients,
- careful coordination of all trades.
Working on occupied sites is one of our core areas of expertise, and often the deciding factor for healthcare professionals who simply cannot afford to close their practice.
Pharmacy Extension
Whether you are expanding your premises, reorganising your layout, or creating a consultation area or a private counselling room, we integrate the constraints of your existing building and all regulatory requirements from the earliest stages of project planning.

Pharmacy Relocation
Relocating your pharmacy to new premises? We take care of the complete fit-out of your new location—from space planning and pharmacy fixtures to technical installations and regulatory compliance—as well as the administrative procedures associated with the relocation, including planning applications and works approvals. Everything is coordinated with your relocation schedule to keep downtime to an absolute minimum.
Medical Practice Construction
Planning to build a medical practice or a multidisciplinary healthcare centre? From consultation room layouts to accessibility compliance and the technical requirements of medical equipment, we manage every aspect of the project to deliver a space that is fully operational and ready to welcome patients.
Pharmacy fit-outs :
compliance at every level
A successful pharmacy or para-pharmacy project is one that is compliant at every level, technically, architecturally, operationally and from a regulatory standpoint, from the very beginning. In the pharmacy sector, leaving issues until later almost always comes at a higher cost. That’s why, at ECOOR, we secure all four of these areas from the design stage, rather than letting critical issues emerge at the end of the project.
Technical Compliance
Fire safety, ventilation, emergency lighting, electrical and data networks, refrigeration systems, and the technical requirements of specialist equipment (dispensing robots and automated systems).
Architectural Compliance
Compliance with the approved design concept (pharmacy groups, designers or pharmacy owner), material selection, lighting, pharmacy fixtures, signage and space planning.
Operational Compliance
Optimised patient flow, confidential consultation areas, durable finishes designed for intensive daily use, and efficient back-office and storage areas.
Regulatory, Healthcare and Administrative Compliance
Consultation areas designed in accordance with healthcare regulations, accessible workstations, vaccination and screening areas (where required). Every requirement is anticipated and integrated from the earliest design stage.
Pharmacy relocation :
ARS requirements and regulatory compliance
When relocating a pharmacy, some deadlines are simply non-negotiable. The opening date set by the French Regional Health Authority (ARS) is one of them. It is built into the project schedule from the outset and becomes a key milestone. We anticipate every requirement, carefully phase the work and secure every critical step to ensure delivery on time.
Working with ECOOR,
what it means for you in practice
Dedicated project management
Keeping your project on track, from start to finish
For healthcare professionals, the most stressful part of a construction project is rarely the final result, it’s everything that happens between signing the contract and taking possession of the completed space. Delays. Contractors passing responsibility from one to another. Poor communication.
As your general contractor, our role is to take that complexity off your shoulders. We coordinate the Design Office, construction teams, administrative procedures and regulatory inspections. You’ll work with a dedicated Project Manager, your single point of contact, who remains available throughout the project, monitors progress through regular on-site supervision, and keeps you informed proactively, without you having to ask.
Designed to maximise your return on investment
Pharmacy projects often represent a significant investment. Thanks to our proven methodology and extensive experience in the pharmacy sector, we deliver construction, fit-out and relocation projects designed to maximise the long-term return on your investment.
Keep your pharmacy open during the works
Closing a pharmacy for refurbishment means lost revenue and an interruption of service for your patients. In most cases, it simply isn’t necessary. We organise the work in carefully planned phases, schedule the most disruptive activities outside opening hours, and coordinate every contractor to ensure the project has as little impact as possible on your day-to-day operations.
Working on occupied sites requires expertise, careful planning and anticipation. At ECOOR, this is one of our core strengths—and one that directly benefits our clients in the healthcare sector.
FAQs
No, and avoiding that is one of our top priorities. In the vast majority of refurbishment projects, it is possible to phase the work so that your pharmacy remains operational throughout the project. This requires careful planning from the outset: identifying priority work areas, scheduling the most disruptive activities outside opening hours, and coordinating every trade to ensure that construction work never interferes with patient care. At ECOOR, this approach is one of our core strengths and an integral part of how we deliver pharmacy projects.
The duration of a pharmacy refurbishment depends on the scope of the work, the size of the premises and the constraints of the existing building. A targeted refresh of the retail area can often be completed in just a few weeks, while a full refurbishment—including storage, dispensing and preparation areas—typically requires several weeks.
As a general guideline, a pharmacy relocation project takes around 8 weeks, a refurbishment around 4 weeks, and a cosmetic refresh anywhere from a few days to two weeks.
We establish a detailed project schedule from the earliest planning stage, with clear milestones and firm delivery commitments that we stand by.
We do. That’s precisely the role of a general contractor: to take care of every administrative and regulatory procedure so you don’t have to. This includes obtaining works approvals, coordinating with inspection and regulatory authorities, and, depending on the nature of the project, managing requirements related to the French National Order of Pharmacists and applicable healthcare regulations.
You remain informed at every stage of the project, but you don’t have to manage these processes yourself.
